Rhyme Disease (A Poem by Me)

Could have written Shakespeare's sonnets

If given half the time

But have no loving fondness

For making my thoughts rhyme

Who was it that decided

That the fruits of someone’s soul

Should be organized and guided

With rhyming as a goal?

For as a writing tool

It is as nifty as can be

But creatively it’s cruel

And makes one less than free.

So let your heart emerge

In a format all your own

Hold back not that smart urge

Rejoice in style overthrown
