Me Too / Yo También

How different this humanity
Books
With covers
In colors
With pages
In places
Worn and bent.

Once opened
Stories
So much alike
Unknowing plagiarism and piracy
Of a narrative
More shared
Than separate.

Were you born, will you die?
Will you one day mourn?
Will you often cry?
Does what make you smile
Bring joy to only you?
Does the sun warm your skin?
Are there words that cut right through?
Yeah, me too.

The variances in our tales
Are to be celebrated
Shown proudly
Worn with giddy glee
Shout loudly
When you say "this is me!"

Yet let the thought
Never slip your busy mind
Let us not get caught
Casting unity aside.

Strength is numbers
Strength to battle the numbness
Creeping across every land
Strength to stand in oneness
Together hand in hand
With love our only plan

Lo diferente esta humanidad
Libros
Con las cubiertas
En colores
Con páginas
En lugares
Desgastado y doblado.

Una vez abierto
Historias
Tanto
La piratería y el plagio inconsciente
De una narrativa
Más compartido
Que se separa.

¿Naciste, morirás?
¿Estará usted un día de luto?
¿A menudo llorará?
Hace lo que haga sonreír
¿Llevar la alegría a sólo a ti?
¿El sol caliente la piel?
¿Hay que cortar a través de palabras?
Sí, yo también.

Las varianzas en nuestros cuentos
Son a celebrarse
Se muestra con orgullo
Usado con júbilo vertiginoso
Gritar en voz alta
Cuando dice 'soy yo'.

No dejen que el pensamiento
Nunca deslice su mente ocupada
No dejes que nos cojan
Bastidor de la unidad a un lado.

La fuerza es números
Fuerza para combatir el adormecimiento
Arrastrándose a través de cada tierra
Fuerzas para aguantar en unicidad
Junto mano a mano
Con amor, nuestro único plan

  5. Awww, it's nice to know that whilst we are unique, we are united in our troubles, though they may be different- that's empathy I guess! Lovely poem !x

  14. I wish I knew how to read Spanish to also enjoy the essence of the poem in another tongue. I'm always impressed when authors are bilingual. I wonder if both versions are direct translations of the closest form or are there slight variations.

  15. what a beautiful composition Shamu. As always, you have the knack to present simple subjects in a unique light through your words. We are all united in our troubles. Be kind. Always. That's the essence I take away.
