Dark Torches / Linternas Oscuras
High atop a mountainside
My gaze fixed on the horizon
Unblinking
I wait
For fires
Massive mounds of fallen trees
Piled to the sky
Left in distant lands
Helped into existence
Built with loving, warm persistence
With these two hands
Tremendous torches
Meant to show
My allies on the move
Towards me
In answer to my plea
For swift and vital assistance
The slight faint glint
Of a ray of sun
Or a false imagined spark
Are all my weary eyes behold
And the fire dies inside my heart
En lo alto de una montaña
Mi mirada fija en el horizonte
Sin parpadear
espero
En caso de incendios
Montículos masivas de árboles caídos
Apiladas al cielo
Quede en tierras lejanas
Ayudó a la existencia
Construido con amorosa, persistencia caliente
Con estas dos manos
antorchas tremendos

As of many of your deep poems, I couldn't understand this. I ought to be ashamed that I used to be a Lit student. I thought your allies were coming to you but yet the ending sounds melancholic instead.
ReplyDeleteI'm also curious if you took that wonderful campfire picture. The frst one.
Nice write-up!
