Revelations III: Paralysis / Revelaciones III :Parálisis

Then alone I sat
Shaking in my bed chamber
My mind spinning
Overwhelmed
Attempting to understand what I had seen
I jumped to the window and tore back the drapes
Just to find the wonderful comfort
Of a plain, blue sky
Then doubt began to overtake me
A questioning of my sanity
Attempting to protect it
Until all questions went quiet
As my hand felt the charred hair on my neck
One last gift from that demon I sought to best
And as I fell back onto my bed
The only phrase my mind could reach
Was two simple words
What next?

Sólo entonces me senté
Sacudiendo de mi cámara de la cama
Mi mente hilatura
Abrumado

My guide
On my tour of the end of time
Challenged that I share what I had seen
But how could I ever truly do so
When my own mental stability
Was doubted even just by me?
Me, not a voice ever heard before
How could such a wild tale change that
And a new phrase bore its way inside
Two more simple words
Why me?

And so that day I held my tongue
And then the next
And then the next hundred
And nothing changed
And I truly mean nothing
Each day as I gazed into the mirror
The face that greeted me remained the same
Not one new line, not one more grey hair
Not one illness, not one scrape
Not one chance of a clean escape

And then I knew
That as time grew
I would remain unchanged
Until that dark and dreadful day
And that the only way to find relief
Was to stand against the tide of disbelief
To tell my new, old story
To help all find the glory
To stand alone when the time arrives
When the universe must say goodbye
And yet my silence only grew
But if I only knew

Y entonces supe

  1. what an unexpected turn! beautifully written....and I like how it can be intepreted in more than one way...as a powerful warning to mankind, as a ray of hope offered to all or as a personal struggle towards the eternity.

    2. they are very interesting themes for sure...and worth exploring.

in reference to your comment on my blog, I wouldn't have been surprised if I saw an elf somewhere at Pec Mlini, it kind of reminded me of Riverdell.

    1. Many hugs for you too dear! I was totally unaware of that Poe story before you told me about it today. It sounds deep and fascinating. I am hooked on John Green books right now but maybe after that. I am so happy with the comments on my poem, you really get the tone of it so well. Such a sweet and encouraging friend :)

  15. Well, I have to say that I like this ending better that previous. There is still hope, perhaps it was a warning and something still can be done to change it. Though again, burden is on you. Great poem dear friend!

  21. You have told! Fear not. The description and narrative is very compelling in here. Is it really a vision or were you trying to imagine what it would be like?

  22. Thank you so much and to answer your question, yes, it is one of those two things ;)
