Revelations V: The Return / Revelaciones V: El Retorno

And so I stood upon a lonesome island
A place
Sought lo one hundred years
And such a handsome home
So weary from my forever life
And the telling of ten thousand lies
Humanity
Too much for me
Set my soul and self adrift
Seeking a life so simple
Fed from tree and sea
Prepared to face eternity
Isolated and uncomplicated
By any voice save that my own

He buscado cien años

Then peace disrupted
With violent fever
Crippling pain
Bitten by some unknown creature
Howls of anguish
Tears like rain
The world blurred all around me
Body shaking in the sand
And even more than I had wished before
I begged and begged for death
But my cursed heart beat forever on
And my lungs pulled mighty breaths

Entonces la paz interrumpida
Con la fiebre violenta
Dolor paralizante

All at once
All symptoms fled
Pain and misery took wing
And when I once more opened my eyes
The view was clear
And instantly I longed for blindness
For my island had disappeared
Replaced by what I instantly knew to be
Another view of the end of all things
Quickly realizing how much mercy
Was shown me on my last visit
Now stripped bare

Ahora desnudo despojado

And so I stood upon an island city
Atop a tower to make Babel sigh
And the streets were filled with millions
Transfixed by fires in the sky
Mouths agape
Eyes wide and glistening
Lips only able to ask why
And in groups floating here and there
All those once dead now arisen
Stood immobile in the air
Breathed alive to bear the witness
To the brutal, vicious finish
And I banged upon the glass before me
Screaming soundless shouts of rage
And my tower shook
And with one final look
I heard my voice, low and whispery
One phrase
Let me take their place

He oído mi voz, baja y susurrante
Una frase

Permítanme tomar su lugar

  1. how powerful! This poem does left a very strong impression and one feels like one is there while reading. Very convincing words and descriptions. I was wondering while I was reading, what the next line will be....at the same time wondering about the implications of what I have just read. Wonderful work!

    2. like yourself, I also studied literature so maybe that is why I always search for different meanings and intepretations when I read a poem...or maybe I just like literature (and poetry).

This poem no.5 is very powerful...it doesn't seem to give any finite answers but I think that only makes it more profound.

p.s. It's actually a dress, but because the bottom has a different pattern it looks like a skirt and a top.

    3. Yes, so far everything is pretty much prologue if you can believe it. The story has barely started. I had not intended to share this much of it but I am certainly going to continue since a few of you really like it. Totally fooled on the dress/skirt thing. All I know was it was very wow and lovely for me.

Anyway, one of these memories that we laugh about o-O

  11. Lovely poem. As I read, I thought: is that a vampire, weary of living on through human pains and turmoil, begging for death; to be set free

    Compelling write.

  18. I've been meaning to find the time to catch up on blogs and I'm glad to have some hours before the new work week dawn.

We discussed this before. I seldom know how to interpret your poems. Being a lit student taught me how poems and could be interpreted in many different ways and what others interpret may not be the author's intention but still, everything makes sense. I somehow see underlying biblical connotations but I could be wrong too.

We are messy bloggers and builders. Lots of ideas brewing but not able to build them up properly. My dreams and reality are always a blur and difficult to manage. I googled Dreamscape and Brainstorm and they sound like pretty interesting movie. Reminds me of Inception.
