Found an box of old pictures when cleaning on Friday and thought I would scan and share them with you. Above is proof of why I was known as "Fern" as a baby.
Dad and I in the 70's. That jacket would totally be in right now but, alas, would likely be a bit snug :)
My room growing up. Note all the Star Wars stuff, Goofy in the corner and the fact I am playing my Atari. Still have one actually.
Freshman year of high school. Performing with the Madrigal Singers. One of only two time that I have worn tights :) The sunglasses, you ask? Perfectly accurate to Medieval times. I think I look a lot like Christopher Walken here.
Sunglasses were also historically accurate for ancient Rome. I am hoping this was a costumer party but honestly can't recall for sure why I was wearing a toga. I am Geekicus!!!!
My days as an international drug kingpin in the Florida Everglades. Or maybe it was a family trip and I was attempting to look cool while keeping an eye out for gators. Crikey!!!
Last of the sunglass pics. This time, playing on the ultra-modern Commodore 64. I look like such a stoner but have never actually been high or drunk once in my life. Just misguided enough to think the glasses were cool. Oh poor past me.
From the time I guest-starred in an episode of Moonlighting with Bruce and Cybil. Great folks but who knew they were so short and made of cardboard.
Mom and I at Mount Baldy, a large sand dune in northern Indiana. It has been featured in more current pics from a trip I took last fall (and am taking again in a few weeks).
Dad and I at the pyramids in Egypt also my freshman year of high school. Not looking like tourists at all :) Clark and Rusty Griswold FTW.
Mom getting me ready for prom. And me looking WAY too much like Liberace.
My first dorm room in college. Note the comic books, wrestling décor, Debbie Gibson pictures (sigh!!!), boom box and Christmas lights that I kept on all year. It is astonishing no one wanted to date me :)
And we will end out look back with a pic of my dope ride. No air conditioning but a giant engine that allowed me to fling myself all around the highway at speeds way beyond my driving ability. In other words, the perfect gift for a teenage boy.
Thanks for taking this trip in the Wayback Machine with me to days of yore. Hope you got a chuckle or two from them as I did. Wishing you a fun, amazing, love-filled week and if anyone is up for a game of Asteroids on the Atari just me me know :)
You still have an atari? Tha t "pong" noise is still featured in some of my nightmares...that and men in sunglasses.
ReplyDeletePong?!?! Pong!?!?! This was no simple Pong. This was the fantastic Atari...on which you could, if you so desire, play Pong but many other things. How about the Space Invaders noise? Remember that one?
DeleteDoot Doot Doot Doot Doot Pew Pew Pew Pew
And FYI--I never, ever wear sunglasses as an adult. I will let my eyes fry before I re-become that guy.
Omg space invaders ! how could I forget! They were always so organized in those little black and white lines.
DeleteI practically live in sunglasses. That doesn't mean anything dysfunctional does it? now I'm all paranoid. Because you know how impressionable I am.
I love looking at old pics. Sunglasses are still cool, so you go with them, although I'm not too sure they were used very much in Medieval times or that the ancient Greece hahaha. I can't think why you couldn't get a date riding around in that amazing car. Great pics Rick.

That gorgeous one :) You do not remember Ceaser removing his sunnies right before Brutus jacked him up? People said he looked like Tomus Cruiseus in them :) And no amount of cool car could mask my endearing mix of dork and shyness. Believe me, I tried :)

I bet many people want to pick you up and hug you real tight. You were both cool and dorky during your teaanaged and young adult years. Haha about those shades. What were you thinking of? Oooh... Debbie Gibson. My sis used to love her a lot and I love her songs like Electric Youth, We Could Be Together, Lost in Your Eyes. The Christmas lights that lighted all year round? Hahaha... I think while going through these pictures, you must have had lots of memories.
