Revelations XVI: The Summoning / Revelaciones XVI: La Invocación
Previously in Revelations: Taken twice to witness the end of all things, our hero finally faces his destiny and accepts the task given him by a shining stranger: Protect the bloodlines of the two men that may one day bring hope for a new future.
Our hero continues his tale of the lonely, desolate Sophia and the aftermath of sharing a bed and a passionate night with a man who was not her husband...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the laughter passed through her
The gentle mocking now faded
Dear Louisa asked the question I feared to answer
And yet knew I must
What had become of Sophia
"And indeed, that next day
The same query was made
Throughout the house of Augustus
One servant to another
Passed in a murmur so soft
Yet roaring with speculation
The last time anyone espied her
Was the night previous
The night known only to she and her suitor as
Her night of release, of passion
Kept perfectly secret
Or so twas thought
Great care was taken to make it so
Yet, on this next day, her lover felt unsettled
And even more so when he heard
His partner was last seen
Entering the bedroom of her husband
Then vanished
Missing her morning repast
Not being present when her beloved children awoke
Not in her bed
Not in the garden
Not on the grounds
Unsettled
And when the summons came to him
From the master of the house
The husband whose trust he betrayed"
Interrupting me quickly but softly
No bit of whimsy left in her tone
Louisa abruptly stated
"I know it was you, there is no need to pretend
What you did was wrong and yet so beautiful
Fear not that I will judge thee, kind sir
You may be a bit of a rogue but your heart is plainly pure"
Which stopped my gait
And my arm loped around her small back
"Dear, girl, you are a marvel
Alright then, I was summoned by my employer
Having been with his wife scant hours before
Her now nothing more than a whisper in these halls
Yet I strode in confidently, cleanly
And he looked me up and down before a word escaped him
Measuring me with a gaze unreadable
And then finally
There is a matter we must discuss
A change has come to my household
And I wish that it not impact my children
As you are the teacher and boon companion of young George
I charge you with protecting him from these events
And so I was told, so directly, so coldly
That Sophia was gone
Her name was not to be uttered
Questions about her to anyone other than George
Were to be answered simply as
She betrayed my master while he lived ever faithful
The divorce was already official
Every item that was hers
Burned brightly on the back lawn
And what, sir, do I tell George
Tell him she is gone
And he shall never lay eyes on her again
As the words left him and he dismissed me
I feigned not noticing
His eyes full of tears
And fought to keep them from my own
Y, finalmente,
Yo no fingí notando
Sus ojos llenos de lágrimas
Y luchó para evitar que mi propia
