Revelations II: The Veil Torn / Revelaciones II: El Velo Rasgado

Light crushed between dirt and dwindling sky
Heat all that is left to breathe
All that was once Earth
Melts as if a candle
Clouds of fire circle and fall
The spears of death man sowed into the very soil
Ignite, explode, each in its sarcophagus of metal and concrete
And I feel the planet creak and groan
And my ears are assaulted with deafening blasts
And I witness clouds like mushrooms
Dotting the horizon
Painting the sky
But then each quickly swallowed
By the incessant darkness from above

Land and sky ablaze
The very mountain I stand atop
Quivering, crumbling
As others around it fall
A cacophony of desolate devastation
Spared I was
In this remote location
From the worst sounds I could have heard
And yet even these
Bring me to my knees

Tráeme a mis rodillas

Until once more laughter fills the air
So cruel among the despair
Rage filled my breast
And I began down the mountain on a quest
To find the one who mocks us
On this day, our last
To find him and kick his jeering ass
Then I spied him at last
As I readied for a fight
I scarcely noted the four horse bound knights
Circling my foe
But when he turned
And showed the face of woe
I could do nothing more than flee
For the face of our destruction
Was that of you
And you
And me

y usted

y yo

And it came to pass
What was once the sky pulled from the Earth
The veil torn
The universe laid bare
And behold
What was once a field of blazing stars
Now a dark, hopeless void
Save for one last light
But not one soul remained
To see it shine
Not one but mine

y he aquí
Ahora, nula desesperada oscuro
Salvo por una última luz
Pero ni una sola alma se mantuvo
Para ver brillar
No uno, pero la mía

And all at once
I was returned
To a world intact
And three lights shone before me
And a soft voice spoke deep into my heart
"Hasten to impart what thou hast seen
That thou alone may ever witness it"

Y todos a la vez
Me regresé

very powerful and moving poem! I imagine it would be heart breaking to be the last one left, I would much rather be the first one to go.

As you wrote this poem is not less scary. But I loved so much. Can the destruction be a spectacular view? You painted an amazing scene of the end of the world. And you chose some terrific pictures! I'm waiting for the part III for other deep feelings. My suggestible disposition is intrigued by the greatness of this series of poems!
Hugs my dear!!!

My sweet friend, as we discussed today your comment has inspired me to create part III. It may take some time to put that together. Parts I and II I have been struggling with for weeks to try and express to my satisfaction. So thank you for the inspiration and also for all the encouraging words! You are such a bright light! Hugs!!

There is beauty in (some) scary things: fire, lightning, powerful storm. And I can say same thing about your poem: the descriptions are scary but at the same time it is beautiful. Strangely enough, some lines reminded me of the recent earthquake experience.

Your pictures bring me very much joy. I think you understand that and I hope that makes you happy. These poems were tough to share because they were very vivid images given to me and I thought they might be too much for people. I am so glad I shared them though.

Odd that you say that last line because I felt so hesitant to discuss such a violent subject on the heels of what your country has been through. It was something I considered quite some time before deciding to go ahead. And, yes, there can be beauty is destruction, especially when what is being destroyed needs born anew. Thank you so much dear!

In reading your poem I had the feeling of one apocalyptic night! Even a little fear, you are very talented. Thanks for share.

you should never worry what is too much for some people....if they don't get it, it's their problem...on other hand, I do understand that all writing (or should I say all good writing;) is personal and hence it may be difficult to share it. I sometimes wonder do you I share too much on my blog, I think we all do. I guess it's just about finding the right balance.
