Hola, greetings and howdy to wonderful you. Thanks for stopping back by for a visit to All Things Bright and Lovely. Today (in total homage to a similar post I saw this week on one of your amazing pages) I have pulled a few of my favorite books off the shelf to share with you.
Above, we see good ol' Charlie Brown. I always so identified with him as my childhood experiences often mirrored his. We even share a weakness for redheads. I have a few dozen books in the Peanuts series and every one is a true gem.
A later role model for me was Austin "Danger" Powers. This book taught me so much about interpersonal interaction and has made me quite the international man of mystery :)
My red-felt bound copy of the complete Shakespeare. Found in a used book shop for $7. I snatched this up quite quickly.
From my days as a Trekkie. Also have ones by Shatner and Takei.
A trip back in time to this treasure by former Tonight Show host Johnny Carson. A few of the offerings:
"Happiness is a tiger in your tank and a pussycat in your backseat."
"Happiness is running out of gas in front of a bar."
Some are quite randy and unsuitable for this venue but amazingly amusing every one.
Another golden oldie is this collection of funny sayings from the TV show "The Hollywood Squares. Extra bonus points to anyone who can name all those folks on the cover. Here are a couple of the zingers:
"Host: Is it a good idea to play music while you make love?
Charlie Weaver: Not if you play the tuba."
"Host: Can a lion and a tiger mate and produce babies?
Charlie Weaver: Just try and stop 'em!"
"Host: What is the maximum amount of time you and your fiance should be engaged?
Rose Marie: Engaged in what?"
"Host: What is the most common cause of friction between married couples?
Paul Lynde: Burlap sheets."
OK, now I will really be impressed if anyone knows all of these folks.
All sorts of Star Wars related books including these 2.
Hardbound storybooks featuring wonderful color shots from the films.
Claymation before claymation was as close to cool as it ever was. From an old bit on Saturday Night Live. Ohhhhhhhh noooooooooo!!!!
I worry about anyone who doesn't see the charm and sweetness of Calvin and Hobbes. Childhood captured so beautifully.
...of course :)
And if it surprises you I have books about cats, you must be new here so welcome :)
My favorite author, southern humorist Lewis Grizzard. Compared by many to Mark Twain.
My favorite poem as I have, so often been that road.
...of course of course
Completely enraptured by this series of books by my Facebook friend Bill Rabkin based on the fantastic TV show Psych.
Thanks for taking a walk through my little library. Sometime I will feature some of the books from my childhood as they are some true classics. Hope your weeks are going wonderfully and that sweetness and joy surround you :D Oh so many hugs for you!
