Sun Thoughts

The sun shines just as bright
As it creeps above the horizon
The Earth in silent supplication
Just as brightly
As it hangs above the chaos
Every noon will bring
The brightness never changes
Only our perception will

Morning sun challenges
Direct, unavoidable, undeniable
Every squint
A tiny reminder of the power it holds over us

Later, cradled highly in white clouds
The light diffuse, spread so widely
And without prejudice
An example for those it warms below

As I go about the business of being me
Challenges will arise
Naturally
From me you see
When I have need of something more
When what I have
Is not
What I am looking for
Never acts of war
Just peaceful ways to know
Opportunities for you to show
That I am not a chore
But instead
Someone you adore

Radiating adoration
To those who will come near
If I have need or longing
I should be able to ask it without fear
And the words that fall on chosen ears
Should bring responses full of loving
Should bring action quick and clear
Any less
Deeply troubling
A piercing of a false veneer

My sun burns all the time
With heart and rhyme
Are you not inclined
To help me shine?
