The Pinterest Principle

Greetings once again to all my loyal reader ("s" pending.)  The muse has once again taken a poo all over the windshield of my mind so I thought I would share.
------
Who knew a website could be so free-ing?  I certainly had no clue when I first encountered Pinterest that it would actually end up being a great blessing to me.  I can say that about many of the blessings I have had in my life.  They start out sneakily unimportant and then, after time, realization hits and there's the "aha" moment.
------
What is it that Pinterest has done for me?  What great blessing has it been to my life?  Why am I recommending it to others?  Because it proved, clearly and without doubt, I am a complete and total dork/nerd/dweeb and, more importantly, I've learned to be OK with that.
------
Being in relationships for so long now, I have found myself trying to downplay or hide this side of myself because its "not cool" and "immature".  I very much wanted to be what my significant others wanted me to (as best I could) in order to bring them happiness and keep the peace.  I had pretty much talked myself into the idea that the nerdy side of me was something to be ashamed of and ignored, but I always refused to let it go.  Evidence of this is indicated most strongly in my Nerd Hut of a computer room, complete with 4 walls and a ceiling worth of shiny, chain-link fence paint and a border made of some of my favorite comic books.  And let's not forget the giant display case I have next to me filled with Lord of the Rings collectables with my Snoopy/Star Wars/Star Trek glasses sitting on top.
------
Before, when dating, this room would be seen well into any relationship.  What I realize now, however, is that it should be the first thing anyone interested in me should see.  This room, and my internet version that is Pinterest, is a perfect litmus test to weed out potential dating partners before time/money/heartache is lost on a wasted venture.
Whenever I am ready and able to once again date, on my profiles I will post a link to my Pinterest.  This way, a potential suitor can, in the comfort of their own homes or library, can see a fairly good approximation of who I am and then they have the option of saying "This guy's a complete dork I don't want any part of that" or "This guy's a complete dork, he's just what I'm looking for."
------
Before I have been nervous to be so honest so soon figuring it would scare most females away.  Now, I see that as a positive instead of a drawback.  I don't want to attract just any females any more.  I am fully ready, and only ready, for one that appreciates me for who I am; someone who understands I can't change who I was but can see all that I have learned from it.  And someone who will tell me, fearlessly and bold, and over and over, how much I mean to them.
------
One of the worst lies to be told is "I love you if ___".  If you are involved in any situation like this, run, run hard, run fast, get away, go leave, adios muchacho, hasta la bye bye yourself on outta there post haste.  Believe me, looking back I cannot begin to imagine why I ever believed such a ridiculous thing but I did and it cost me much to learn the truth of it.  Many of life's lessons come at such a high cost.
------
So, yeah.  I am finally mature enough to realize what I want out of a relationship is someone who wants me, my basic essence, the fiber of my being, my soul.  It's almost like I am one of those modern art paintings where it looks like someone sneezed on the canvas with a nose full of paint.  But sure enough, someone, somewhere will look at it and say "wow, I totally get that."  I've been waiting 42 years to be totally got and now I will keep waiting until I totally am.

Think cyber corkboards where you put up pics or ideas you want to share. It was big last year but I haven't tended mine for months. Have a ton of stuff up there.
