Thought that after 88 blog posts I would celebrate the big milestone of #89 by sharing a few fun facts about Buddy's favorite futon, me :) This seems like a post a real blogger might make, but I am going to do it anyway.
Fun Fact #1 -- I enjoy alliteration, combing words that start with the same letter. (that really should have been Fun Fact #5 I suppose)
Fun Fact #2 -- My main college degree was in English and I use it daily, not to make money, mind you, but to apply the skills I learned digging into the multi-layered tales of Chaucer, Parker, Cooper and the like to better understand the actions of individuals and groups. Seeing these motivations often makes things much easier to accept or help with.
Fun Fact #3 -- My job is exceedingly difficult to explain and a bit hush-hush anyway so I tend to keep it pretty vague. Suffice to say, in my own little way, I am making a positive impact on the world by doing it and that makes going into work each day pretty easy.
Fun Fact #4 -- I am very introverted and shy but am attempting to get better about it. In conversations, you would not be able to tell it about me from the progress I have been making. I love talking to people one on one and am pretty good at it by now. But starting that conversation is still something I am struggling with.
Fun Fact #5 -- Since 2006, I have been a homeowner. My house is 3 bedrooms and was built in 1961. When (and if) I ever get it clean, I will share pictures.
Fun Fact #6 -- I consider myself a citizen on the world, just happen to currently live in the US. Had I the opportunity, I would travel constantly one place to another, absorbing cultures, languages, customs--just the very essence and energy of the places. That is my dream life, globe hopping without schedule or responsibility, spreading love, joy and peace in every land that would have me.
Fun Fact #7 -- While I am too shy to have any friends locally, I am amazingly lucky to have a couple who live elsewhere and really care quite a bit about me. Have tried making friends here, never really worked out. But it is my goal to find a nice group to be the Joey to their Chandlers and Monicas and Phoebes :)
Fun Fact #8 -- I enjoy watching some sports quite a bit, most notably our local professional womens' basketball team, The Indiana Fever. This is me in my only sports jersey, the #24 of the legendary Tamika Catchings.
Fun Fact #9 -- And last, for now anyway, but never least, I enjoy blogging so much, the whole social media thing. Just the idea of being able to interact with wonderful, creative, brilliant people like you guys even in this very limited capacity is so exciting for me. All of you, and a special few in particular, help me SO much being brave enough to be myself. That is priceless to me and I thank you all so much.
And one more pic, this one from a couple days ago, before I close. To prove Encore Fun Fact #1 -- I have no problem looking like a goober if a camera shows up. Even at the dentist :) Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Hugs of varying lengths and natures all the way around :)

ReplyInteresting post and I'm glad you're slowly getting to grips with the shyness. It's really hard when you're not a natural extrovert. I am also a travel lover.
ReplyThank you so much for all your lovely comments and your birthday wishes.
xoxoxo
Interesting post! So I learned something new about you, Rick.
ReplyAnd thank you so much for your kind comments on my blog, it means a lot to me!

ReplyGreat post! Love this kind of thinking:). Kisses from Madrid
ReplyI'm definitely a natural introvert, but it's always easier getting to know someone one-on-one. I'm so quiet in groups though!

ReplyIts a biography indirectly. Great post and I am loving it. Greeting to Miss Carlifornia wanna see more of her attitude.

Oh that attitude never stops so plenty more to come :) Thanks for such encouraging and wonderful words. It is scary to put myself out there like that, always figure no one will care, so it means so much that people do.
ReplyI always love reading all these facts about my blogger friends coz it allows me to know them better. I'm glad you did this post! Now I know more about you. Does Fun Fact 1 draw you to my blog? esp with the title. So I see, we are similar on 1, 2 and 3.
ReplyI guess that blogging helps in opening yourself up on the Internet Realm. I wouldn't have been able to tell that you are an introvert from the way you share so many things with us, your readers. This is what I like about the blogging world at times. It's so full of love.
Maybe you could create an "about me" page with some facts from here!
I do so enjoy your blog name. Soothing :)
ReplyI am very open here because I feel safe. I am mostly invisible away from here. A cypher at work and donut church. Just haven't found a "real" place to feel safe yet.
Never thought to do the about me page. Would have to figure out how to accomplish such. Very much learning on the fly with this blogging thing.
It would be so lovely to hear from you. I promise to respond either here or on your blog.
