Doors / Puertas

The social contract
Should be torn to pieces
And burned
For its authors
Lived safely
Sadly
Behind firm closed doors

Guard your heart
The good book says
But not against people
Heavens no
Guard it against
Fear
Hate
Intolerance
Judgement
People are carries of these diseases
But not the diseases themselves
And the only balm you can offer
That has a chance to help
Is love
Open your door

Many doors have been shut to me
Some I have chosen to shut
Mostly what I meet
Is a door open half
And when I tug the knob
Even with the gentlest pull
It feels set in cement
Sweet words I speak into the darkened room
Scribbled notes without meaning are tossed out in reply
If any reply is received at all
So many doors
Just like this
I stand in front of each day
The energy it takes is astounding
Not to shut them and walk away
But they called me here
And so
For now
I stay

You see my door wide open
In fact no door at all
I fear no theft
Though much has been stolen
Far too many times
I have sat and watched these crimes
Warm tears in my eyes
But to live a life behind closed doors
Is the same for me
As to die

El contrato social
En caso de ser despedazado
y quemado
Para sus autores
vivió de forma segura
con tristeza
Detrás de puertas cerradas en firme

Cuida tu corazón
El buen libro dice
Pero no contra la gente
Cielos, no
Protege contra
miedo
odiar
intolerancia
Juicio

y entonces
Por ahora
me quedo

¿Ves mi puerta abierta
De hecho no hay puerta en absoluto
Me temo que no robo
Aunque mucho se ha robado
Demasiadas veces
Me he sentado y visto estos crímenes

to close the door that leads to our heart is a crime both to ourselves and to others. We must live with an open heart, as heart breaking as that often is, for life has many ways of breaking our heart, both visible and invisible hurts that torment us.

Wonderfully written...such a beautiful poem. Very moving and very real.

Loved it! The whole of it was beautiful.
But kudos to you for the last stanza. That's how life should be lead.
I wish you all the happiness dear friend.
