Just Like Me / Tal Como Yo

Love
Is not an application
Downloaded to your phone
How can you have
Ten thousand friends
And sit at home
Alone?

Necks bent
Tapping noises
Glowing screens
Texts sent
Where once voices
Filled the spaces in between

Archiving our lives
One picture at a time
Summing up our feelings
In one so clever line

We are begging to be known
To have seen what we have shown
To show the places
Our time has quickly flown
Seeking virtual embraces
From those just barely known

Expressing love and rages
As we
Refresh tweets and pages
Knowing that we matter
That our selves deserve notice
Above the clatter
The more lost we feel
The more we will reveal

A hand reached to humanity
Just to find one
Just like you and me
Keep your signal strong
Keep believing you belong
Because you do
Just like me
Just like you

Amor
¿No es una aplicación
Descargados en el teléfono
¿Cómo puedes tener
Diez mil amigos
Y quedarse en casa
¿Solo?

doblada cuellos
Tapping ruidos
pantallas Glowing
Textos enviados
Donde una vez las voces
Lleno de los espacios en el medio

Archivo de nuestras vidas
Una foto a la vez
Resumiendo nuestros sentimientos
En una línea tan inteligente

Estamos rogando a ser conocido
Haber visto lo que hemos demostrado
Para mostrar los lugares
Nuestro tiempo ha volado rápidamente
Buscando abrazos virtuales
De los que apenas conocida

Expresando el amor y rabia
Como nosotros
Actualizar los tweets y las páginas
Sabiendo que somos importantes
Que nosotros mismos merecen aviso
Por encima del ruido
El más perdido que sentimos
Cuanto más vamos a revelar

Una mano a la humanidad
Sólo para encontrar uno
Al igual que tú y yo
Mantenga su señal fuerte
Sigue creyendo que perteneces
Debido a que usted hace
Tal como yo
Igual que tú

That is a very clever testament and comment on modern life and communication.

wonderful poem...great intepretation of the modern world and communication.

It is questionable whether the virtual world makes us more connected or not...it is easy to get lost in it sometimes.

Reading this I had to think of when I was 11 and had a pen pal. It was always great to receive a new letter, and to write back. We never met and stopped writing after a few years, but we had been friends, even if only on paper. It was a slow process, not like now, where every minute of the day there can be someone who contacts you, "likes" you with a button, has an opinion about you. Not superficial, but real.
Your posts like this one often make me ponder :-). I seem to sense a struggle in your texts, a struggle I don't have because I'm not on social media that often. Sorry if I'm wrong in my interpretation. Hugs xxx
