Beautiful! Beautiful!

Yessiree, that is Mr. Channing Tatum on my blog with a post titled "Beautiful!  Beautiful!"  So to start, in an informative non-defensive move, I am straight.  Like-a-da-ladies.  Tone Loc in "Funky Cold Medina" kind of straight.  But, by golly, that is one beautiful man up there.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Why the subject of beauty came to mind on my drive home I have no idea.  There was no trigger sighting or overheard remark to spur me on towards it.  I have learned that those are the times I really need to make an effort to blog.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Corny, trite, million-year-old saying alert:  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  And it has stayed in our common minds all that time because it is true.  Like almost everything else, it is very difficult to come to a consensus on what makes someone "beautiful."  The good news is that, as with almost everything else, its just very OK to not agree. What a wonderful thing it is for one person to find another beautiful.  Why would we ever discourage this by questioning their choices in the matter?  And why do we pen it in by gender?  Would my saying a man was beautiful fly in certain circles?  Like my half-arsed , none-NASA assisted attempts at paper airplanes.  The trouble seems to be that people have trouble between finding someone beautiful and being attracted to them.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Beauty and attraction can be linked but its not a requirement.  I can give you a list of beautiful men but not once have I been even a little attracted to them.  Likewise, I can point out examples of women I consider incredibly gorgeous that, due to situations, personality, etc. I just don't find myself attracted to.  Jennifer Anniston is a perfect example.  Just lovely head to toe.  But ever since I read an interview with her a few years back she just leaves me cold.  Not that she cares or should care and not that she's a bad person, just the way she comported herself was so anti-me I saw her a different way from then on.  Another good example, from my youth, the late Whitney Houston.  She came out when I was in high school and I developed a huge crush on her.  And then she started dating (and eventually married) Bobbie Brown.  Once again, still a beautiful woman, but any attraction I had vanished immediately.
-----------------------------------------------------------
For me, as you can tell by now, attraction involves alot more than pleasant-shaped body parts and alabaster skin (oh I do love the alabaster skin tho.)  Its much more about personality, kindness, caring, compassion, an honest laugh, a tender smile, a love of life.  The ability to keep things in perspective and still see the amazing things the world has to offer us that surround us every day.  Oh, and if she's creative, artsy in any way, on top of all that, just wow.
-----------------------------------------------------------
So to sum up, NOT GAY!  Not-o-gay-o!!!  Ha I am totally being a derp.  Believe me, if I cared whether people thought I was gay I would not #1--Own 2 guinea pigs and a cat  #2--Run a women's fashion blog  #3--Have a Pinterest board dedicated to fairies (they rock!)  #4--Enjoy Ikea WAY too much #5--Think Adam Lambert is the best (and Barry Manilow pretty cool as well)
-----------------------------------------------------------
And, for the record, Channing Tatum is a very entertaining actor as well.  I did not yet see "Magic Mike" but his turn in the "Step Up" film and "GI Joe" were both excellent.  I would so like to be able to dance like that dude but I haven't even been able to master the Funky Chicken and the closest I ever get to The Robot is when I first get up after sleeping on my back wrong.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Now that I have used the word "dude" in polite conversation, it's time to bring this to a close before other words like "swag" or "bling" make their escape from the mind-cage I keep them in.  Thanks for reading, beautiful ones :)

Great post and ohhhh so true. Personally I can't get overly excited by Mr Channing Tatum but, as you say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It would be a sorry world if we all thought the same things were beautiful. It is also true that beauty and attraction do not necesarily go hand in hand. There are some amazing looking women out there that just make me so envious. But I'm certainly not attracted to them hahahaha!!

You are the second totally gorgeous woman to tell me Mr. Tatum isn't her cup of tea. Hope he doesn't read this and get a complex :) Thanks so much for your comments, dear.
