Knights in the Museum / Caballeros en el Museo

OK, so I know I am a total geek but honestly, is that not totally cool?  :)  A full set of armor for rider AND horse!  Original to the Middle Ages and on display at the Chicago Art Institute.  Welcome, dear hearts, and thank you for stopping by.  Today I am sharing the pictures from my trip to the institute except for the ones of the paintings (Manet, Van Gogh for example.)  Those I will likely post next time.

These are 2 examples of art by Native American tribes.  My mother loved all things Native American and would have so enjoyed their display.  I have never seen such wonderful pieces from this era in an art museum.

African art was also well represented.  These 2 masks caught my eye instantly.  The bottom one is very creepy and, as I stood their alone in a very quiet room beside it, it was not hard to feel its energy.

This, dear friends, is the very first ever Grumpy Cat :)

Keeping with the animal theme, check out these cheeky monkeys :)

And oh yes, the area that held the armor.  Once I stumbled upon that it was pure bliss for me.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  And an big extra thanks to those who left me such sweet comments on my last post.  It makes me feel so much more accepted and confident to read them and believe me, I have read them each quite a few times :)  You are so wonderful and I hope you never doubt/question/forget it.  If you do, though, just ask me and I will remind you.  Be well, many hugs and kisses all around and thanks for all the love!

Well hello, darling! Ancient grumpy cat needs some time-correct captions. Am working on it :) And if perhaps I was banished from the museum for trying on a set or two of the armor and borrowing a broad sword I will never say :)

Me too, dear. Painting are all well and good, but the sociologist in me finds most fascinating the crafts and totems that people produce. Same with the modern world :) Thanks for your sweet visit!

You have a very unique blog! I found you through a couple of other blogs I happened to visit..
I love the grumpy cat and the cheeky monkeys lol. The red Indian art..its quite fascinating! Love the painting..is that a painting? When I was a kid I read a novel from my dad's collection called the Indians of the Oaks. The characters and the story of that book is still etched in my memory and I often recall the book with much fondness Also because I relate it with my childhood. Sadly, it got misplaced maybe in between us shifting houses. I recommend the book very highly if you are fond of reading :)
