In Time (en el tiempo)

My time machine complete
Checked
Fueled
Set a dozen years ahead

As the
Thousands
Of days passed by
All around were
Fleeting
Confusing
Impossible
Overwhelming
Things yet to be

Eyes shut
In a desperate attempt
A futile attempt
To focus.

Until
Touchdown 2025
Harness off
Roll to the ground
Hug and kiss it
Like a lost love
Waiting
For the sky
To halt its infernal
Spinning

And then
My mission begins
Paper out of my pocket
A list
Of names
Your names
Yes you
See?
Right there you are.

And one
By one
I travel
By jetpack
(so cheap now)
To where you are.

What did I find
Upon meeting you?

People who
Swore
Never to have children
Now with three.
So many beautiful children
from so many of you.

Happy homes
The only walls between you
Made of board and plaster.
Foundations that can be
Shaken
Perhaps even stirred
But never broken.

Sitting
Together
In your living rooms
Hearing
How it all came to be
Laughing so much
Together

One of you
Explaining so proudly
A name so
Odd to me
you have bestowed upon
a daughter
A wonderful tribute.

One of you
Without interest
In mates
And families
But never
Alone
You have become
A friend
To the world
Held in its warm
Sometimes smothering
Arms
Exhausted
But every minute
Treasured.

At the end
Of every meeting
The same request
You made
"When you go back
Please do not
Tell me
What lies
Ahead."
Sorrow, joys
Challenges, triumphs
All must be felt
In full
In the present
And I abide
That vow.

When it came time
to leave.
One last visit
One of you
Beyond my ability
To reach
For you have taken
A trip
Much more wonderful
Than mine
I will make that trip
Myself one day
And see you there
In time.

Mi máquina del tiempo completo
Comprobado
Alimentado
Establecer una docena de años adelante

Como el
Miles
De días pasaron
Todo eran
Fugaz
Confuso
Imposible
Abrumadora
Cosas todavía

Los ojos cerrados
En un intento desesperado
Una tentativa vana
Para enfocar.

Hasta
Desembarco
 para 2025

Arnés de
Rodillo para el suelo
Un abrazo y un beso
Como un amor perdido
Esperando
Para el cielo
Para detener su infernal
Rotación

Y luego
Mi misión comienza
Papel del bolsillo
Una lista
De nombres
Sus nombres
Sí tú
¿Ves?
¿No estás aquí.

Y uno
Por uno
Viajo
Por jetpack
(ahora tan barato)
A donde estás.

Lo que encontré
¿A conocerte?

Las personas que
Juró
Nunca a tener hijos
Ahora con tres.
Muchos niños hermosos
desde entonces muchos de ustedes.

Hogares felices
Los muros sólo entre ustedes
Hecho de tablero y yeso.
Fundaciones que pueden ser
Sacudido
Tal vez incluso revuelto
Pero nunca roto.

Sentado
Juntos
En sus salones
Audiencia
¿Cómo llegó a ser
Riendo tanto
Juntos

Uno de los dos
Así explica con orgullo
Un nombre para
Extraño para mí
ha otorgado a
una hija
Un maravilloso homenaje.

Uno de los dos
Sin interés
En las gemelas
Y las familias
Pero nunca
Solo
Te has convertido en
Un amigo
En el mundo
Llevó a cabo en su caliente
A veces asfixiando
Brazos
Agotado
Pero cada minuto
Atesorados.

Al final
De cada reunión
La misma petición
Has hecho
' Cuando vuelves
Por favor, no
Dime
¿Qué mentiras
Adelante.'
Tristeza, alegrías
Retos, triunfos
Todos deben sentirse
En su totalidad
En el presente
Y yo acato
Esa promesa.

Cuando llegó el momento
Salir.
Una última visita
Uno de los dos
Más allá de mi capacidad
Para llegar a
Para tomar
Un viaje
Mucho más maravilloso
Que la mía
Haré ese viaje
Yo un día
Y te vi
En el tiempo.

Whatevs, I am, like, so totally NOT hormonal. Amnotamnotamnot!!!

Honestly though, even thinking about it the next morning I started to tear up. Glad you enjoyed it. A great example of me never knowing where my writing might end up when I start.

Sounds melancholic... I dunno what else to say... I guess I won't peel open the orange and leave it as it is.

Pardon my ignorance, what language is that accompanying your English text?

I include Spanish as that seems to be my most shared language among my non-English speakers. Would love to do more but my blog would be War and Peace :)

Very nice, and I'm impressed that you managed to do it bilingually! I am surely not that adept, even in one language.

Oh but I must be honest and say I rely on a translation website for the Spanish. I am hoping it is not doing too poor a job of it but I would have no clue if it was :) Thanks for your kind comment. Wonderful to have you stop by :)
